What Is Alternating Possession In Basketball?
Alternating Possession is a rule that is adopted by FIBA, the NCAA and the high school game and it basically settles all of the jump ball situations by using a possession arrow on the scorers table. Whichever way its pointing the team that is attacking that way gets the possesion in a jump ball situation. The team that wins the tip off loses the first jump ball and it just alternates throughout the game as many times as needed. The NBA does not adopt this rule and uses jump balls to settle all of these situations
